End of Term Project

Pre-Workout’s Effect on Bench Press Number

Question: What effect will taking pre-workout have on the number of times I can bench press 185 pounds and by how much will it affect it by?

Hypothesis: I think that my rep number will increase by 1 or 2 times, because the caffeine, testosterone boosters, and Hyperemia enhancers.

Materials:
  • 1 Nitraflex container of German-American Technology(GAT) pre-workout powder(scooper is provided)
  • 1  8-16oz cup of water(refillable)
  • 1 bench press platform (if not owned can be found at local gym) including weights

Safety:
  • A spotter is recommended so you won’t drop the bar on your face or throat
  • Do not take GAT more than once a day

Procedures:
  1. Go to sleep and sleep for 10 hours
  2. Wake up and go to the gym and set up desired weight on bench platform
  3. Bench press until the spotter needs to help and count the reps that you did on your own
  4. Record the data gathered
  5. Eat, drink and wait 3 hrs to get back to full strength
  6. Take 1 scoop of GAT mixed in 1  8-16 oz cup of water and repeat step 3
  7. Record the data gathered
  8. Repeat steps 1-7  seven times

Independent Variable:  GAT or no GAT taken while benching.

Dependant Variable:  Number of times weight is benched successfully.

Experimental Control : Your personal achievement of how many times without GAT or pre-workout you can bench desired weight (if you don't have this use your first trial as control and then do another trial to make up for it).

Results:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Summary: Overall, the GAT helped tremendously always giving me the energy and my body the proper chemicals to push me to work harder and use my muscle even better than without GAT.  Not once was the number of times I benched 185 pounds with GAT ever lesser or equal to the number of times without GAT. The number of times I could bench 185 with GAT was always 1,2 or even 3 greater than without it.

Conclusion:  Taking GAT before benching increased my reps by 1-3 times more. I also felt less fatigued and more energetic. Taking GAT helped even more than I originally thought it would of increasing it 1 or 2 times, in some cases how many times I could bench the weight increased by 3 times. I think that in the last 4 days my numbers went up more (on average) without GAT because I got more used to the weight the more I lifted it. I think there wasn’t as much variation in the times I lifted with GAT because that was the extent of my muscles and as far as the product could help me.  If I could redo this experiment I would more trials and spread out more than 1 day to see how GAT affects muscle growth. This experiment has shown me the difference with supplement weight lifting vs. non-supplement weight lifting.
